“Dream a little dream, and all your wishes will come true.” Those words have rung in my ears for many a year now.

I had a teacher, Ms. Anne Goff, who inspired me to try writing. In school, I was always writing poetry, and she said that maybe I should try writing an actual story.

So I did. It was horrible.

But, she always told me that if I kept on doing it, I would get better at it, and it would feel more natural.

So I did. It got better, but it still didn’t seem right. Something wasn’t quite right. That’s when that line came to mind.

“Dream a little dream, and all your wishes will come true.”

I probably heard it from a movie or something. I don’t remember, but it became a mantra of sorts.

And so I kept trying. Every time I think I’m about to quit, I remember the encouragement I got from that one person who thought her student had potential. And I keep going.

I haven’t finished a whole story to this day, but that encouragement reminds me that even if I don’t believe in myself, there was someone that did.

And that keeps me going. The fact that even after all these years, just that one act of encouragement would stick with me, make me remember why I started writing in the first place.

I do it to make a dream come true.

So thank you. If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t be the writer I am.
